Starting with 10 meetings, BitGeneration seeks to bring Bitcoin training and education to Italian students.
BitPolito, a group of students from the Politecnico di Torino University that seeks to tackle the training, research and development of Bitcoin in Italy, has announced “BitGeneration,” a project that aims to bring Bitcoin education to Italian high schools.
According to a press release sent to Bitcoin Magazine, the university will host 10 meetings of three hours each for 30 third, fourth and fifth graders at local high schools.
“Experts and teachers have been talking about Bitcoin in several classes through small independent initiatives,” the release said, “but BitGeneration has a different tenor. For the first time, [an Italian] public schools receive Bitcoin training in an official way: 30 hours are part of what is called Pcto (which in Italian means Pathways for Transversal Skills and Orientation), a course of 300 hours of work compulsory over three years for all students. throughout the country.”
The lessons taught cover various aspects of Bitcoin, from financial inclusion, economics and societal structure to computer science and game theory. There are also practical lessons focused on showing how easy it is to use Bitcoin. Subjects include “creating seed phrases and wallets, downloading and managing full nodes, timechain analysis and mining (with a real Antminer S9 ASIC provided by BitPolito).”
The speakers participating in this initiative include some of the most famous names in the Italian Bitcoin field, such as Giacomo Zucco, Riccardo Giorgio Frega, Alekos Filini, Daniela Brozzoni and Riccardo Masutti.
James Zuko, who gave his first lecture on January 31, said, “The teachers are enthusiastic. When they asked some questions after the lecture, about a third of the students gathered to listen. I found a bright face even after a three-hour lecture.
Nicholas Terranovaa member of the group and one of the main people responsible for the initiative, explained the plans for expansion, saying “We would like to expand the project in the future. In the next edition, we will make a documentary that will tell about student education, from the students’ point of view. We hope other schools can set an example, we are ready to help.
According to the press release, 10 lessons will be posted on BitPolito’s YouTube channel so anyone can watch the course for free.
