Binance to support users in Turkey’s earthquake region with $100 airdrops in BNB tokens

The earthquake that devastated Turkey on February 6 has caused devastation, affecting many communities and individuals.

In response to the tragedy, cryptocurrency exchangeBinance has announced that it will release $100 USD of BNB tokens to all Binance users living in the areas hardest hit by the earthquake. The process of identifying eligible users will include checking the submission of Proof of Address (POA) made before February 6 in ten cities affected by the earthquake, including Adana, Adıyaman, Diyarbakır, Gaziantep, Hatay, Kahramanmaraş, Kilis, Malatya, Şanlıurfa, and Osmaniye.

Although the POA method may not be 100% accurate, Binance says it considers it the best option for finding users affected by the earthquake. The total value of the donation is approximately $5 million USD (94,000,000 TRY). Binance Charity has also set up a public donation address, encouraging individuals to donate to the Emergency Earthquake Appeal using various cryptocurrencies, including BTC, ETH, BNB, BUSD, and XRP.

After a natural disaster, individuals often find it challenging to access traditional banking services especially when they need it most for essential needs such as medical supplies and food. To combat this problem, the use of cryptocurrency transfers is becoming popular to send financial aid to disaster victims, because the transfer is fast, cost-effective, transparent, and unrestricted, making it ideal for providing assistance in emergency situations.

Cryptocurrency has become a solution for sending aid after disasters. For example, in connection with the war in Ukraine, cryptocurrency has been used to provide aid to those affected by the war. Aid organizations have been using crypto to deliver financial aid and supplies to those unable to access traditional banking services due to the conflict.
