Binance’s philanthropic arm – Binance Charity – is set to fund 30.65 scholarships for students who want to make a career in Web3 in 2023.
The Binance Charity Scholar Program (BCSP) will provide free Web3 education and training courses that will enable tech-savvy students to improve their skills without having to overcome unnecessary financial barriers, Binance Charity explained, in a blog post on January 20:
“We recognize that digital education and skills development are out of reach for many, resulting in a blockchain industry that lacks diversity and talent. The Binance Scholar Program changes all that, covering tuition and course fees at several universities, colleges and vocational training providers.
The blog states that more than 82,000 applicants are interested in being part of the next BCSP cohort, which equates to an acceptance rate of about 37%.
Among the participating educational partners are the University of Western Australia, the University of Nicosia in Cyprus, the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management in Germany, and Nigeria-based technology hub Utiva.
France-based tuition-free training center Simplon, Women In Tech, Kyiv IT Cluster, and the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine will also host several BCSP events.
Binance Charity said it is working with a Ukraine-based department to help retrain Ukrainians who may have lost their jobs due to the war with Russia.
The partnership with Women In Tech will aim to train around 3,000 women in rural South Africa and Brazil to support future female entrepreneurs.
Binance Charity will also receive partnership support from Binance Academy – the company’s non-profit blockchain education portal.
In 2022 alone, Binance Charity raised more than $3.5 million – most of which came in the form of Binance USD (BUSD) – which helped fund more than 290,000 hours of Web3 education and training courses.

Head of Binance Charity Helen Hai said interest in the program continues to grow:
“The response to our Web3 education project has been unprecedented, showing the huge appetite of many people to learn about blockchain, De-Fi, NFT, coding and more.”
“We see interest from a wide range of people, including a good ratio of women […] With more educational initiatives with amazing partners in the pipeline, we’ve never been more excited to build a more inclusive Web3 world,” he added.
Binance Charity does not confirm when the 30,000+ positions will be filled and when each undergraduate program will start.
