Mic drop! The 2023 Grammy Awards brought star power with killer performances and acceptance speeches, making it the biggest night in music.
Us Weekly rounded up the top five moments from the awards event, which took place on February 5, in case you missed anything – or just want to relive the magical evening.
host Trevor Noah kicked off the night by trolling some celebrities and introducing Adele for her dream celebrity, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.
“The person that Adele has always wanted to meet and never had Dwayne Johnson,” Noah, 38, revealed as he made his way to the “Hello” songstress Table. “I don’t have Dwayne Johnson here tonight, but I do have a guy called The Rock.”
Adele, for her part, was surprised to see the former wrestler, 50, in person and could not contain her excitement when she hugged someone in the audience.
When evening came, Peter Kim made history as the first transgender woman to win Best Pop Duo / Performance Group together Sam Smith for the song “No Holy”.
“Thank you very much Sam. I love you so much. Sam has been my supporter for a long time,” Petras, 30, gushed as she accepted her first Grammy trophy. “Sam is very happy that I received this award because I am the first transgender woman to win this award.”
The German singer received a standing ovation for the monumental moment – and Smith, also 30, was the biggest cheerleader on stage. “Everyone who has believed in me so far, I love you so much,” Petras said. “Sam, thank you. You are an angel and a true hero in my life.”
Beyoncé, meanwhile, made his own history after taking home his fourth golden megaphone for the night. When he won Best Dance/Electronic Dance Music Album for RenaissanceThe “Formation” singer, 41, broke the record for most Grammy wins of all time with 32 total.
“It’s an honor,” James Corden he said before handing the trophy to Beyoncé. “Because we are witnessing history tonight. Show us your respect!”
The “Crazy in Love” singer was emotional as she took the stage to praise her loved ones and fans for their continued support.
“I’m sorry. I try not to get too emotional. I try to accept this night,” he said before thanking God for “protecting” him throughout his life. “I want to thank my beautiful wife, [Jay-Z]. My three beautiful children are watching at home.”
During the Grammy pre-show, Beyoncé picked up two more trophies for Best Dance/Electronic Recording (“Break My Soul”) and Best Traditional R&B Performance (“Plastic Off the Sofa”).
Later in the night, the former Destiny’s Child singer won Best R&B Song for “Cuff It,” but was stuck in traffic and was unable to accept the award.
However, the Grammys wouldn’t be complete without an epic performance. One of the biggest moments on stage was when hip-hop legends came together to pay tribute to their upcoming 50th birthday. The audience was on their feet Busta Rhymes, Missy Elliott, Nelly and other rappers teamed up for a medley of the greatest hits.
