Bethenny Frankel made less than $10,000 for her first season of The Real Housewives of New York City. In fact, they make even less.
In a video recently shared on her TikTok page, Bethenny recently responded to her former castmate Luann de Lesseps‘ statement about the close to Broadway in her podcast, announcing what is in store for season one while also explaining what caused the “Bethenny clause” and how it changed entertainment.
“The contract says $7,250, which I don’t dispute. I’m nobody. That’s a lot of money for me. I just have time, no kids, no family, no problems,” said Bethenny on TikTok.
But when he agreed to the amount, he made an amendment to his agreement.
“The only thing I crossed was the thing that said Bravo will take a percentage of what I made,” he shared. “Now, I’m nobody. I have nothing, and will I care? But somewhere deep in my heart, I know conceptually that it’s wrong and I’m going somewhere and I’m going to do something , and none of them have any parts.
The following year, after she sold the cocktail section of Skinnygirl in large quantities, Bethenny was highlighted by articles from The Hollywood Reporter and Forbes, which she claimed made the industry wake up.
“Bravo is awake. The entertainment industry is waking up. Reality television woke up, and they created what is now called in the industry the ‘Bethenny clause,’ which means that anyone who watches reality TV has to give a percentage to the powers that be,” she explained.
Bethenny then said she told her social media followers because she wanted them to know, “You’re smarter than you think.”
“I am nobody. I am not a business person. I have no institutional knowledge or experience in any of this. I read the contract. Something didn’t sit right with me, and I took it. And it changed my whole life, and it changed the entertainment industry and its practices. So, don’t assume that anyone is smarter than you,” he advises.
As for her close-run-in with Luann in March, when Luann was accused of storming out Cinderella is badOpening night after sitting close to Bethenny, Bethenny, who arrived with her 12-year-old daughter. Bryn Hoppyresponded to him ReWives podcast after a fan asked him to do so.
“You have to hurt and it’s challenging and you really want to be able to focus on other people,” Bethenny said, according to an April 7 report from Page Six, adding that she felt “bad” for Luann, who “spent a lot of time talking about [her] in his cabaret and in the media and on podcasts.
“It’s time to sort of focus on yourself instead of being consumed with other people,” Bethenny said. “I wish him the best, and I wish him a speedy recovery if he doesn’t feel well during the ‘Bad Cinderella’ half.”
As RHONY fans can recall, Luann suggested after her alleged storm-death that she actually “left with [her] date” because he “feels bad”.
