Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi has agreed to the 2023 State appropriation bill of N172billion approved by the State Council.
Bello, who signed the bill at Lugard House, Lokoja, on Friday, commended the doggedness and patriotism of the lawmakers and staff of the council.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the budget was made up of N101 billion as recurrent expenditure and N70. 74 billion as capital expenditure.
The governor, who appreciated the efforts of the lawmakers to fast track the bill, appreciated the good relationship between his government and the Legislative government.
“I want to commend the doggedness and patriotism of the members of parliament to ensure that the right thing is done, which has helped move the country forward.
“It is evident that the synergy between the three arms of government in the country will continue to yield positive results as seen in the smooth governance and implementation of policies and programs.
“With God’s grace, my government will promote unity among the three arms of government for the growth and development of Kogi.
“To this end, I want to assure you lawmakers and residents of Kogi that my administration will ensure the full implementation of the budget with the resources available,” the governor said.
In response, the Speaker of the house, Mr. Mathew Kolawole, applauded Bello for his commitment and support to the assembly over the years.
Kolawale said the assembly has now flourished greatly in its legislative business mainly because of the support of the executive it has enjoyed.
