ILOILO CITY—Bacolod City will host the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) midseason extravaganza.
Commissioner Willie Marcial said the “City of Smiles” will be the next place after a heartwarming meeting with Mayor Albee Benitez last night.
The exhibition will be held in an unfinished arena, league officials said.
The development follows the successful staging of the All-Star in Passi City.
Japeth’s team escaped from Scottie’s team, 140-136, in a thrilling duel that featured several gimmicks, namely scrubbing players’ timeouts, the 4-point line, and dunks made worth three points.
Paul Lee shone the brightest in the contest, pouring 32 points built on 7-to-13 shooting from the complete marker to emerge as the Most Valuable Player of the weekend he also won the 3-Point Contest.
About 4,000 spectators filled the small town of Passi Arena.
Sunday’s event is the first time the league has held an All-Star Weekend. It was last held in 2019 in Calasiao, before a hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic.
