Auditions for Nigerian Idol Season 8 begin

After the success of Nigerian Idol Season Seven, which saw Progress Chukwuyem emerge as the winner, MultiChoice Nigeria said it will produce the competition for its eighth edition, starting with online auditions.

Busola Tejumola, chief executive of content and West Africa Channels at MultiChoice Nigeria, made the announcement in a statement on Tuesday in Lagos.

According to Ms Tejumola, online auditions for the eighth season of Nigerian Idol opened on Saturday, January 14 and will close on Saturday, January 28.

He disclosed that the eight season winner of Idol Nigeria will walk away with a cash prize of N30m, among other prizes.

He said all interested applicants should submit a 30-second video to www.africamagic.tv, saying MultiChoice remains committed to highlighting young talent in Nigeria in various sectors.

” Auditions for Nigerian Idol season eight are officially open, and you don’t have to leave the comfort of your home.

” Interested contestants between the ages of 16 and 28 must upload a 30-second video of themselves singing a song of their choice. www.africamagic.tv.

” Season eight promises to be bigger and more exciting than any other season.

“Last year, after a fierce battle between Progress and Zadok, the former emerged as the winner, and we are looking for more talents that will pack heat in the way of our contestants in season seven,” she said.

According to Ms. Tejumola, in the seventh season, 12 brilliant contestants came to the live show from over 40,000 entries.

He said it is high time more Nigerian youths get a chance to be in the limelight, urging all interested candidates to ensure they have proper identification.
