Speaking to TV3 at Kotoka International Airport, where the lifeless body was received from Turkey, Abdul-Hayye Yartey said, “It was a difficult 12 days. There were many conflicting stories until Saturday, when we received the devastating news that Christian was gone. .

“When Nana Sechere[Atsu’s manager] called me and said, Yartey, Christian has passed, I can say my heart stopped beating for a second and after I cried like a baby. I have received news of many deaths, but the truth is that Christian’s death is very painful.

Abdul-Hayye Yartey who picked Atsu as a raw talent, helped him to hone the skills that eventually landed him in a place he never imagined.

When Atsu achieved his goal of playing top-flight football in Europe, he did not hesitate to give back to the community. The 31-year-old has donated to the needy including providing boots to young players at his former club Cheetah FC.

According to Abdul-Hayye Yartey, the team felt the pain of Atsu’s death more than kindness.

“Christian is an angel on earth and it will be very difficult to replace him. Not only because of talent, but because of Christian.

In regards to his relationship with Cheetah FC and how it affects us, Kristen belongs to us and where he started and where he was before this tragic event. He’s one of those people that we always use to inspire the players from what he’s doing in the world, so I think he’s a great fit with Cheetah,” he said.
