Shaibu said, “Ordinarily, we would not bother to respond to Fani-Kayode who has for years built a reputation as a shameless liar to the extent that he was publicly blacklisted by the Nigerian Union of Journalists after outbursts against journalists.”
“However, the allegations and insinuations about the coup should not be taken lightly because the reality is treason, an offense that carries the death penalty. While we commend the Nigerian military for effectively dispelling Fani-Kayode’s lies, we call on the security agencies to invite him to be more transparent about the allegations. Shaibu.
He described Fani-Kayode’s efforts to withdraw as belated, adding that the allegations were too serious to be ignored.
He said, “No! Fani Kayode cannot argue. We refuse to accept it. Whoever comes to justice must come with clean hands. Whoever comes before the Lord must come to his will. Contrition requires repentance and confession. If Fani- Kayode wants Nigerians to take him seriously, so he admits that he lied or provides evidence that he did not.
“This man, who has blown up so many people through lies, wants to be accepted without doing penance for his bad deeds motivated by finance!” added statement.
Shaibu recalled when the late Deputy Governor of the Central Bank, Obadiah Mailafia, stated that the governor who was the commander of Boko Haram, he was summoned five times by the DSS and the police until he had to run to court.
He said Fani-Kayode should not be given special treatment because he works for the ruling party.

Shaibu asked Nigerians to remember that Fani-Kayode remained the biggest traducer of the APC until the end of the year.
