Norway hosts a major Bitcoin conference with high-profile speakers, ending with thunderous applause from Lightning.

Scandinavia may not be the first region that comes to mind when you think of Bitcoin, but tiny Norway has become “the largest bitcoin mining center in Europe.”
With less than 0.07% of the world’s population, Norwegians churn out nearly 3% of Bitcoin’s global hash rate, mostly thanks to cheap, stranded and renewable hydropower in the north.
And now, Norway is hosting “the biggest Bitcoin experience” (sic): Northern Lightning 2023.
Pure Signal Conference
Northern Lightning 2023 will take place in Bergen, Norway from March 17 to 19, and the Norwegians will be going all out.
Everything has been designed for and by Bitcoiners, from keynotes, to food, to parties, to merch. Merch will be limited to 21 numbered copies, of course. Our vision is to create an annual and intimate experience that brings Bitcoin to a new Nordic city every year, until hyperbitcoinization is possible and beyond.
This first edition will be a three-day Bitcoin conference in a historic setting between the dramatic scenery and the wooden port of Bergen, headed by the greatest minds in Bitcoin, with the opportunity to orange pill hundreds of no-coiners in a massive party running on the Lightning Network.
Hodlonaut, Knut Svanholm and Peter Todd only some of the big Bitcoiners will joinincluding topics like monetary liberation, Bitcoin adoption and Lightning innovation.
Focused on bringing Bitcoiners together and creating a deep connection with a minimum of stage staring, Northern Lightning also wants to provide the purest signal anywhere. Even DJs are Bitcoiners.
A Rave running on lightning?
Even a DJ? yes already.
The highlight of Northern Lightning will be one of the world’s largest AFK Bitcoin onboarding events: an all-night rave with hundreds of coinless people set up for everyone using Lightning.
Headlined by Norway’s leading electronic artists, including Karolinski, Matiago, Klysterik, Antibakke and Trym Søvdsnes, it’s set for a unique orange-pilling occasion.
A good lineup this will fill any place. So what happens when 400 non-thirsty people meet 200 Bitcoiners and they all have to use Lightning to buy beer?
With the goal of creating an unforgettable, real-life Bitcoin experience for everyone, year after year, celebrating Lightning is the perfect start. Party goers will have the opportunity to use Lightning when buying drinks, renting towels or buying merchandise, and even buying bitcoins for peer-to-peer cash during onboarding.
It’s all designed to offer a little less conversation, a little more Bitcoin action.
And for the venue, Smien Laksevåg Verft is the oldest ship dock in Bergen, recently converted into a nightclub that opens directly to the fjord, which will offer free welcome drinks as well as use of the sauna and barbecue all night.
Not Just For Adults
Talk of a rave may not appeal to the wider family, but Northern Lightning 2023 has got you and the little ones covered too.
my own daughter, Lykushka (the ninth) organized a children’s corner and workshop, a place to teach young minds about Bitcoin while having fun. I love that my kids make friends with other Bitcoiner kids, usually they are smart too.
Whether the show will make him think that his mother and father are more or less nuts, but will be welcomed every day until 10 pm on Northern Lightning.
Almost Sold Out
Northern Lightning is less than two weeks away and passes are selling out fast.
The main conference pass, which includes access to keynotes, workshops, dinners, meetups and parties, will sell out this weekend. After that, only limited passes are available, but limited passes are pretty awesome and you don’t want to miss them.
