Ashley Biden Posts About ‘Freedom’ Multiple Times After Court Maneuver

Ashley Biden filed for divorce Monday and later shared online posts about “freedom.”

Biden, the daughter of former President Joe Biden and former first lady Jill Biden, married Dr. Howard Krein more than 13 years ago. At the time, then-Vice President Biden told People, “This is the right guy. And he’s getting a helluva woman.”

But the union is apparently over, according to an online docket. No other details were provided in the posting.

“New life, new beginnings means new boundaries. New ways of being that won’t look or sound like they did before,” Ashley wrote on her Instagram story afterward to the song “Freedom Time” by Lauryn Hill, Newsweek reported.

Another expired post shows her walking through a park giving a thumbs-up as Beyonce’s “Freedom” plays, the outlet added.

The Philadelphia-based Biden and Krein, who do not have children, began seeing each other in 2010 after being introduced by her brother Beau Biden, The Hill wrote. They married in 2012.

Ashley Biden worked 15 years for the Delaware Department of Services for Children, Youth, and Their Families; she was executive director of the Delaware Center for Justice for five years until 2019, according to Newsweek. Krein is a plastic surgeon and head and neck surgeon.

She fondly recalled her wedding at the 2024 Democratic National Convention, noting how her father helped organize the day despite serving as vice president at the time.
