Defending champions Asante Kotoko beat bottom side Kotoku Royals 5-1 to move into second place in the Ghana Premier League, one point behind leaders Aduana Stars.

Richmond Lamptey opened the scoring before Mukwala grabbed a brace, scoring in each half. He then set up Ivory Coast’s Serge Zeze for the fourth, and Solomon Safo-Taylor scored the fifth for Kotoko.

Kotoku’s best game came in the 29th minute, when Kumi scored. They remain in 18th place, 10 points from safety.

Hearts of Oak on Saturday beat Medeama in Tarkwa for the first time in seven years. Kwadwo Obeng Junior scored the only goal for Phobians, who are also currently one point behind Aduana.

Aduana dropped the points at home, drawing 1-1 with the impressive Accra Lions in Dormaa.
