He was charged with theft and handling stolen goods, to which he pleaded guilty.
Otieno appeared before the Makadara Law Court presided over by Senior Principal Magistrate Mary Njagi where the charges were read against him.
The prosecution team told the court that Otieno visited Songore’s house and asked for breakfast.
After eating breakfast, he asked for sex, but she refused the request, which led to an increasing argument.
Otieno slapped Songore and he ran away from the house for safety.
Songore said that when he returned home later with his relatives, he could not find his belongings.
He asked Otieno where the item was, but he just insulted him. He then decided to file a complaint with the police.
A two-day search of the belongings in Otieno’s house turned up the following.
In other news, two Instagram content creators have been sentenced to ten and a half years in prison by an Iranian court for dancing in public and sharing videos online.
The inmates, Astiyazh Haghighi, 21, and Amir Mohammad Ahmadi, 22, who are engaged to be married, are both full-time content creators on Instagram, each with nearly a million followers.
The video that led to his arrest was posted online in October 2022. It shows him dancing in the streets of the capital’s Azadi Square, one of the sites of anti-government protests, which translates as “Freedom Square”. The square is said to be a historic protest center in Iran, which is also used by pro-government Iranians to commemorate the 1979 Iranian Revolution.
Branch 15 of Tehran’s Revolutionary Court accused the pair of “encouraging corruption, meeting and collusion with the aim of disrupting national security and spreading propaganda” against the Islamic Republic, based on those arrested on January 29, reports said.
The duo was reportedly arbitrarily arrested on November 1, 2022, reportedly beaten by plainclothes police officers, denied access to a lawyer, and denied bail.
