Arnaut Danjuma: Tottenham sign Villarreal forward on loan days after he nearly joined Everton | Transfer Centre News

Tottenham have completed the loan signing of Villarreal striker Arnaut Danjuma – just days after he almost joined Everton.

Sky Sports News reported on Monday that Danjuma will join Everton without a manager on Tuesday. The move is still expected to go through despite the sacking of Frank Lampard, who played a key role in the deal.

However, in a dramatic twist, the Netherlands international suddenly flew to London for talks with Spurs, and the 25-year-old has now completed a move to Antonio Conte’s side.

Tottenham have an option to buy Danjuma if the initial loan ends at the end of the season.

His arrival in north London will boost Conte’s attacking options, with Heung-Min Son, Dejan Kulusevski, Richarlison and Lucas Moura each having injury problems this season.

Spurs were boosted by the news that Danjuma will be able to play in the Champions League. They face AC Milan in the last 16, with the first of two legs on February 14.

Danjuma decided to join Everton despite better offers and interest elsewhere. He understands the challenges the club faces in the Premier League amid chaos on the pitch but wants to test himself and take risks.

However, the timing of Lampard’s sacking and the uncertainty surrounding his replacement made Danjuma’s decision to abandon his move to Goodison Park easier.

Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest are also interested in signing Danjuma, who is set to spend two years on the south coast between 2019 and 2021, after Villarreal agreed to hold talks with interested clubs.

‘Big disappointment for Everton’

“Just when you think Everton fans have suffered enough, this happens.

“Danjuma is expected at Finch Farm, he has agreed to join, and his medical is over at the weekend.

“They are asking for certain assurances from the football club about the direction they are going if Frank Lampard is going to lose his job.

“Everything seemed to be set to announce a loan deal from Villarreal, but at the eleventh hour, Spurs came in and made an offer for him on loan.

“It will be a big disappointment for Everton. They thought they got someone. They are desperate to find an attacking option. Lampard has worked hard to try to bring him to Everton.”

Spurs remain in negotiations for Porro | Spence is available on loan

Tottenham are also hopeful of completing a deal Defender of Sporting Lisbon Pedro Porro before next Tuesday’s deadline.

Further negotiations between the two clubs took place on Wednesday, with sources in Portugal claiming that Sporting could negotiate a release clause.

Until then, he wants Porro’s €45m release clause to be paid in full. But the fact that talks continue shows Sporting could be open to relaxing their demands. Tottenham have been reluctant to pay the forward’s full release clause.

Porro started on the bench for yesterday’s League Cup semi-final win at Arouca and Sporting head coach Ruben Amorim admitted he was not sure he would play in Saturday’s final.

Meanwhile, Tottenham are willing to let the right wing go Grandma Spence left the club on loan this month. Spurs signed Spence from Middlesbrough last summer in a deal worth up to £20m but he has made just four Premier League appearances this season.
