Armed Force Remembrance Day: Tinubu salutes officers, veterans | The Guardian Nigeria News

The Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has praised and thanked members of the Nigerian Armed Forces on the occasion of this year’s Armed Forces Remembrance Day.

Tinubu, in a statement, in Abuja, said: “The nation owes members of the armed forces – past and present – a huge debt of gratitude for keeping the country together and defending territorial integrity even at the risk of their lives.

“It is commendable that despite the many threats and challenges faced by the country at various points in its history, the Armed Forces have remained a great shield that continues to counter threats to national security and peaceful coexistence.

“As we celebrate Armed Forces Remembrance Day on January 15 this year, I want to record our deep appreciation for the service of our Armed Forces soldiers, past and present.

“I want to assure veterans and those who are active in the service that if elected president, I will join hands with them to ensure that Nigeria defeats all threats to her country.”

Tinubu promised to support by meeting and prioritizing welfare and equipment needs among other empowerment initiatives that have been mentioned in the action plan for “Renewed Hope” for a better and safer Nigeria.

“I congratulate the members of the Nigerian Legion and the entire Armed Forces on this memorable day. Let me reiterate here that we do not take your services for granted. We remain indebted to you for your sacrifice,” Tinubu said, in the statement.
