Arizona Republican Kari Lake played a game of make believe when she declared herself a “rightfully elected governor” during a call to the right-wing streaming channel Real America’s Voice this week.
His opponent was sworn in as governor on Monday, but that didn’t stop Lake from making his latest claim.
“They should stop everything and do this in broad daylight so everyone can see it,” said Lake, who is backed by former President Donald Trump in the 2022 election.
“The way we can change that is we get a real governor, a properly elected governor, myself, there working with our lawmakers, to change our laws, pass some laws, and frankly, we have to remember per person. Maricopa County Board of Supervisors.”
Arizona-based GOP consultant Chuck Coughlin told The Hill last week that Lake’s posts on social media, along with his “degradation of Arizona institutions,” hurt him.
“And I don’t think they have a future in terms of their own electoral space in Arizona,” Coughlin said.
