Apostle Suleman slams N1 billion lawsuit against Halima Abubakar

A case between Nollywood actresses Halima Abubakar and Apostle Solomon JohnsonThe founder of Omega Fire Ministries International, has taken a new turn as a preacher has officially sued him in court.

In October 2022, Apostle Johnson Suleman filed a case against him alleged defamation.

The court case began on March 25.

In 2022, Rasul filed a writ against the actress sought some relief against him.

This is the first time she will publicly react to the matter since it happened in July 2022 after Gistlover made a post linking her relationship with Rasul to her fibroid surgery.

Later, the actress’ relatives called the apostle on Instagram and asked him to stay away from her.

Proceedings began

Failing the actress failed to meet his demands, Rasul and his legal representatives have started legal proceedings against him.

According to court documents, his statements discredited his character, credit, reputation, integrity, and ministry.

Mr. Suleman requested a court order for the defendant to publish the retraction of the defamatory statement posted on his Instagram account @Halimabubakar and in several online blogs and newspapers.

He also sought an order forcing him to pay to remove all links and report the defamatory comments on all platforms on the internet.

Other demands include the sum of N1 billion as greater and exemplary damages for libel, an order of permanent injunction restraining him, his agents or servants or others from further publishing or causing to be published such statements or similar defamation of prosecutor.

In addition, they also sought an order directing Ms Abubakar to pay the sum of N20 million, the legal fees paid to the counsel handling this suit.

The background

In October 2022, Mrs. Abubakar, who started acting in 2001 when she played a small role in the movie ‘Rejected’, announced that she stopped working.

The controversial actress broke the news on her official Instagram page.
