APGA candidate Nweke denies withdrawing from Enugu governorship race

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance in Enugu State, Frank Nweke Jr, has denied rumors of his withdrawal from the March 11 election.

Mr. Nweke, in a statement by his Media Manager, Uchenna Igboeme, described the rumors as “the handiwork of political desperados determined to keep Enugu in a web of lies and indecency”.

The gubernatorial candidate said there has been an increase in misinformation and targeted fake news in the last 72 hours.

“(It) is proof of acceptance of my message of awakening in Enugu State,” Mr. Nweke said in a statement made available to newsmen in Enugu on Thursday.

According to him, apart from the fake news about his resignation, there are also allegations that he has congratulated Bola Tinubu, the President-elect.

“There are also accusations that I am going to approve cattle farms for grazing if elected. This is another lie.

“Anger because the citizens have woken up and are ready to take back our country.

“Through the campaign, I have not, and will not, engage in the politics of character assassination and bitterness.

“However, I will focus on how Enugu will have water, how Enugu will be clean, how our roads will be smooth, how our youths can start dreaming again, how technology will be used for the progress of all.

“My focus is to let the people of Enugu know that the Okuko Igbo-Igbo rooster symbol on the ballot paper is where the fingerprints should be cast on March 11,” Mr. Nweke said.
