APC wins Katsina guber poll with more than 300,000 votes | The Guardian Nigeria News

The governorship candidate of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) in Katsina State, Dr Dikko Radda won Saturday’s governorship election with over 300,000 votes.

Radda, who contested against 11 other candidates, won with 859,892 votes, which was a landslide in 33 of the 34 Local Government Areas in the country.

His closet rival, Senator Yakubu Lado of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), came second with 486,620 votes, while the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Engr Nura Khalil came third with 8,263 votes.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Returning Officer (RO) for the governorship election in the state, Prof. Muazu Abubakar announced the results Sunday night at the INEC headquarters in the state.

“That Umar Dikko Radda, after fulfilling the legal requirements, is hereby declared the winner and is hereby elected” as the governor, said the RO.

He said that elections in 88 polling units were canceled due to violence, hooliganism and other related challenges.

He added that 63,811 registered voters were affected and 44,309 PVCs were collected in the affected areas.
