The All Progressives Congress (APC) has said it has no business delaying the 2023 general election, as it is ready for the polls.
Mr. Felix Morka, the National Publicity Secretary of the APC said this in a statement on Friday in Abuja.
Morka was reacting to some media speculation that the Federal Government is working on a plan to postpone the election.
“Our attention has been drawn to shady media reports in some media that APC is pushing for the postponement of the 2023 general elections.
“The report is completely false and frivolous, and lacks credibility.
“Beyond the loud title, the report does not provide any substantive justifying content other than its purpose,” he said. Morka said the report was aimed at creating unnecessary anxiety among Nigerians about the election, saying the election was an issue of national importance bordering on national security and corporate integrity in the country.
“It is not and should not be a problem for idle, noisy or insensitive speculation by the media or any institution for that matter.
“On record, under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari, our party continues to conduct the most extensive and vigorous campaign in the recent history of our democracy.
“Seeking to elect our visionary presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, his running mate, Sen. Kashim Shettima and our party’s governor, national and state legislative flag bearers to office,” he said.
This, he said, was in direct contrast to the poor and vague campaigns of the opposition parties, which presented nothing to the electorate, except lies and propaganda against the APC.
Morka said Buhari left no doubt about his unwavering commitment to deliver a befitting legacy of credible, free and fair elections.
He added that the president has carried out unprecedented electoral reforms and innovations, which will position the country well to deliver the 2023 general elections and further consolidate our democracy.
“We are ready for the general election, and remain confident that Nigerians will renew our mandate in a peaceful, free and credible electoral contest,” Morka said.
