The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi State, Francis Nwifuru, has in Abakaliki dispelled rumors on social media that he is indisposed or may die.
Mr Nwifuru, who is the Speaker of the Ebonyi House of Assembly, told journalists that the rumors were a “disturbing tool” used by the threatened opposition because they were “accepted by the people”.
“You have seen me; I am alive, healthy and pain free. I have never visited a hospital because of illness.
“The last time I had a medical examination was in February 2022 and I have to undergo another examination in 2023.
“I hope after his inauguration because I believe he will be sworn in as governor of the state,” he said.
Mr Nwifuru urged people to ignore reports about his health, saying he had nothing to hide.
“When people start a calumny campaign, there is no need to worry that there are no bones in the closet.
“My fate is a threat to many people, and I am not angry.

“If you are human and people don’t fear you, you will not survive.
“If someone has an offer, expect baseless stories about that person from the enemy.
“Ebony people have seen that the opposition has nothing to offer but lies and lies,” he said.
Mr. Nwifuru also denied rumors that he was in conflict with the Catholic Bishop of Abakaliki Diocese, Peter Chukwu.
“The bishop is my father in God and always guides me spiritually.

“He didn’t complain that I was wrong and I wouldn’t do that.
“The opposition must understand that the people have accepted me and no story made up can change that,” Mr Nwifuru said.
