APC denies governor’s aides joined PDP

At All Progressive Congress (APC) in Zamfara State has said reports peddled by the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) media center that three special advisers and the deputy governor of the state, Bello Matawalle, have joined the party are false.

The PDP in two separate brief statements claimed its aides were not satisfied with Mr. Matawalle’s leadership style and decided to defect to the party.

“Former chairman of APC Zamfara and current deputy organizing secretary of APC, Zamfara Central senatorial Zone, Alhaji Musa Mallaha has dumped the party and joined PDP in support of Dr_DaudaLawal,” the center said.

In another statement, it said: “Defection continues to undermine the ruling APC in Zamfara as Special Adviser 3, and chairman, Zamfara independent electoral commission, dumped APC for PDP. He was received by governorship candidate Dr_DaudaLawal at his Gusau residence.

The media center also presented evidence of defectors received by the gubernatorial candidate, DaudaLawal and PDP chairman in the state, Mukhtar Lugga.

It is a lie – APC

But in a quick reaction, APC through its spokesman, Yusuf Idris, said the defectors were not appointed by Mr. Matawalle.

He said the three men, Hamisu Magami, Abubakar Maigandi and Yunusa Rosy, were assistants to the former governor of the state, Abdulaziz Yari.

Mr. Idris said that Garba Muhammad – Danburan was the former Chairman of the State General Election Commission (ZASIEC) and not the current chairman as PDP said.

He described the report as misleading and false.

“The report is completely misleading and a desperate move by the PDP and its defectors to create a false image.

“It would be good to clear the minds of Nigerians that Zamfara people are well informed about those imposters,” he said.

“The three who lied to be advisers, Alhaji Hamisu Magami, Alhaji Abubakar Maigandi and Alhaji Yunusa Rosy are not Special Advisers to Governor Bello Matawalle.

“He was only an adviser in the administration of the former Governor of the state, Alhaji Abdulaziz Yari. He has no significant role in the current leadership of Governor Bello Matawalle,” he said

Mr. Idris said the ruling APC continues to accept office and former PDP leaders are among the candidates cleared to contest for positions of responsibility in the 2023 general election without lying.

“It is the certainty of the amount of cowardice, evil, misinformation, lies and deceit for those who claim what they are not, even though they are there just to score false political points. It is time the opposition PDP realized that no such bad attitude will destroy It is APC that is not against PDP,” he said.
