Annoh-Dompreh Predicts 70% Victory For Bawumia
Majority Chief Whip and Member of Parliament for Nsawam Adoagyiri, Frank Annoh-Dompreh has predicted a 70% victory for Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia ahead of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential primary.
According to him, despite the different opinions of some political analysts, he believes it will be a big victory for the current vice president, Dr Bawumia.
He said this when he joined the Vice President with other members of parliament at the Manhyia palace in Kumasi for Akwasiadae
Frank Annoh-Dompreh spoke to the media, “this is the first time we see a Muslim who is the leader and gathers the support of the Christian community, the person builds a mosque, a church, approaches the Pastor. and he eats, talks and thinks together with the Ulama, for me, I have not yet see that such religious tolerance is unique in the continent and for me, we must respect what we have and celebrate it”.
He explained that “I tell you that I will not win less than 70%, I have been in this game for some time I have been a student leader, TPS executive, regional executive, and now I have been the chairman of the committee before. , I am the Chief Whip, I can feel all the spirit of the party is behind this man and whoever will fight this man is like sweeping the moving current, he will win there is nothing he can do. that, will win massive minimum will be 70%”.
However, the Chief Majority Whip warned other candidates not to underestimate and attributed the huge support of the vice president to intimidation.
“That is why I did not join the NDC, since childhood this party is a party that entertains reason that disagrees, no one is afraid no one can intimidate MPs.
“Don’t underestimate the huge amount of support this person has and treat it as intimidation, there is no intimidation who claims they are intimidated should come out and prove it”
“There are other members of the DPR who support other candidates so they are not 100% supportive, for the record, we do not have a candidate here, I can give some names but they are free to join them” he explained to the media.
He said the delegates in all the 16 regions urged voters to elect Bawumia as their flag bearer and end the 8-year jinx in the political sphere.
On Sunday, the Vice President inadvertently turned Asante -Akwasidae into a rally venue as he was attacked endlessly by the attendees.
Dr. AS Bawumia, joined the Asantemann to celebrate the 2023 Asantemann Sunday festival with the King of Asante, His Majesty Osei Tutu II, sitting in state at the Manhyia Palace.
He was accompanied by his wife, Samira Bawumia, who both wore beautiful Kente cloth.
Among his entourage are many Chief Executive Officers of State Institutions, Regional and Constituency chairpersons of the ruling New Patriotic Party and others.
Also, a total of 90 Majority Members of Parliament (MP) from the ruling party joined the Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
The list of MPs who attended the event shows that about 30 MPs hail from the Ashanti Region.
The Eastern Region came second with 11 MPs, followed by the Northern Region before Greater Accra which both had nine MPs.
Members of Parliament led by the Majority Leader, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, Majority Whip, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, First Majority Whip, Habib Iddrisu, Second Majority Whip, Lydia Alhassan, Deputy Minister of Finance, John Kumah, Minister of Education, Dr. Yaw Adutwum among others.
Apart from the Vice President who has yet to make a public declaration about his future in politics, six other NPP stalwarts have publicly declared their intention to lead the party so far.
Already, two – Minister of Trade and Industry, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, and Minister of Food and Agriculture, Dr.
The other six contenders – all key members of the NPP, are former Minister of Energy, Boakye Agyarko, MP for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, and former presidential spokesperson and party Secretary General, Kwabena Agyei Agyepong.
The rest are former Attorney General and Minister of Justice Joe Ghartey, who is also Essikado-Ketan MP, Francis Addai-Nimoh, former Mampong MP, and D Kofi Konadu Apraku, who is also Essikado-Ketan MP. also a former MP for Offinso North.
