Angry man shoots sister’s lover in Ogun

A 30-year-old man, Michael Ogundele, is in police custody for allegedly shooting his sister’s boyfriend, Tobi Olabisi.

Mr. Ogundele does not like Mr. Olabisi dating his sister.

Police arrested the suspect on Friday, at the scene of the incident at Idi-Iroko in Ipokia Local Government Area. Ogun state .

The police spokesperson, Abimbola Oyeyemi, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday.

Mr. Oyeyemi said the suspect was arrested following a report lodged at the Idi-Iroko divisional police headquarters by a community leader in Ihunbo town, Alpha Akeem.

The reporting person had visited the police station with the injured victim.

According to the statement, Mr. Akeem, who had warned the victim to end his relationship with his sister, reportedly shot him, but the victim faked his death.

“Following the report, the DPO of Idi-Iroko Division, CSP Ayo Akinsowon, quickly mobilized detectives to chase the suspect and he was later arrested.

“During interrogation, the suspect claimed that he had warned the victim not to date his sister but he refused. On the fateful day, he got information that the victim was sleeping in his sister’s room and he went there with Dane’s gun.

“When he got there, the victim jumped out of the window to escape the consequences but unfortunately he was shot by the suspect.

“The victim was rushed to the Idi-Iroko General Hospital where he is currently undergoing treatment.”

Police did not say which part of the body the bullet struck the victim.

The Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole, has, however, ordered the transfer of the suspect to the Homicide section of the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and possible prosecution.
