Andy Cohen named the one city where he wouldn’t want Real Housewives – and admitted that season 19 of Real Housewives of Orange County “got in the weeds,” as he shared why.
Last season on RHOC, the cast tried to prove that Katie Ginella was colluding with Bravo content creators on social media. Tamra Judge was often at the helm, seemingly steering the cast against her. But after her costars started to turn on Katie, Tamra quickly went to her corner to defend her.
In an interview for KMOV News 4, Andy said he would never want an installment of Real Housewives in St. Louis, Missouri – his home city.
“I think it’s a hard no,” said the star. “I can’t imagine how annoying it would be for my mom, dad, sister, everyone I know to be like, ‘Oh, so-and-so auditioned.’ Or, ‘So-and-so is on it and is mad at the edit.’ I don’t need this.”
“I have enough drama with The Real Housewives of Orange County, Rhode Island, New York, Atlanta, Potomac,” he added jokingly. “You know, it would be multiplied if it was in my hometown because it would be multiplying with everyone that I know having something to say to me. I have so much noise in my life. I have two little children, also, trust me. It’s good. We’re good.”
Speaking at NBTV Fest, Andy addressed the faults of RHOC season 19.
“Last season of Orange County … we got in the weeds about a lot of things that happened,” said Andy, via @bravobreakingnews on Instagram. “We used to never break the fourth wall. I remember a scene, I think in season two or three of Orange County … Lauri might have been appearing at the convention center. And I was like, [why] is she appearing? And they’re like, because she’s an Orange County housewife. I was like, we don’t acknowledge that on the show.”
“Obviously we do now,” he said. “I think that we really want to tell the story of what is going on in the women’s lives and their kids and their marriages and their friendships, and not about what it’s like to be on the Real Housewives of Orange County.”
Andy then teased the new season, which will showcase the return of original castmate Vicki Gunvalson.
“I could speak for the next half hour about season 20 of the Real Housewives of Orange County and how moved I am by it for so many reasons and how engaged I am by it and how proud I am of it,” he said. “Especially in how proud I am of the women who are here tonight who are sharing incredible, intimate moments in their lives.”
“Each one [is] super relatable, super important,” he continued. “And I think this is a season that really grounds this show and this franchise back to the early years and why we began it. And I’m proud that Vicki is back.”
