ANCYL vows to stop DA from delivering memorandum to Luthuli House

The ANC Youth League (ANCYL) has vowed to prevent the Democratic Alliance (DA) from submitting a memorandum at its headquarters in Luthuli House, Johannesburg, on the ongoing electricity crisis.

This is when the DA marched to Luthuli House to deliver a memorandum of demand to the governing party in relation to the ongoing electricity crisis.

ANCYL national organizer Tlangi Mogale said no political party can wake up and advance to the headquarters of other political parties, especially during the campaign season when the country is gearing up for next year’s general elections.

He said the DA started an adventurous process that would not yield results.

“This is not a government building, this is a revolutionary building of a revolutionary organization,” Mogale said.

Mogale added: “If the DA is genuine about the issues raised and really wants to contribute to the discourse on how to solve the energy crisis, they should come up with a solution to Taman Megawatt. [Eskom’s headquarters] not here.

“We don’t know who is going to send the memorandum because there are no Eskom officials at Luthuli House.”

‘Gordhan has failed miserably’

Mogale said he also warned the leaders not to accept the memorandum from the DA.

“As a youth league, we have told the leaders ‘no one will collect and accept the memorandum because we are not Eskom’.

“Yes, we are the governing party and we have sent our friends to oversee and lead the Eskom issue. We note as the ANCYL that the ANC must stand on the board of Eskom and on the Minister of Public Enterprises – Pravin Gordhan.

Mogale said Gordhan had ‘failed miserably’ to address the challenges at Eskom as public enterprises minister.

“We feel that he has failed miserably and we say that he should be removed.

“We also said that asking for Andre De Ruyter to be removed immediately and this saying that he will leave in March is a waste of time for us, he should leave now.”
