A showdown is expected as the ANC, Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) and ActionSA battle it out for control of ward 10 in the Polokwane municipality during tomorrow’s election.
‘Vote for the ANC’
“The ANC will support this,” ANC provincial deputy secretary Basikogo Makamu said yesterday.
Makamu said the time was ripe for the ANC to show all the smaller political parties in Limpopo how it was done.
“We have worked hard enough and we are satisfied that we will win this.” said.
Makamu, who is also the Limpopo MEC for cooperative governance, human settlement and traditional affairs, claims he is a diviner.
“I can see the future. The people of Limpopo, especially Moletji, are tired of muttering in the streets without a political party to give them sanity.
“This Wednesday, they decided to do the right thing – to vote for the ANC,” he said.
Makamu said the ANC is one of the oldest political parties in Africa.
He said the people of Moletji would vote for the party to live a better life.
“They will vote for the ANC on Wednesday, because the party has been there, done it and seen it.
“Limpopo is the home of the ANC. Fortunately, Moletji people know better than others,” said Makamu.

‘EFF has delivered clean water’
But the EFF disagrees.
EFF provincial chairman Tshilidzi Maraga said the party is waiting for tomorrow to arrive.
“The gloves. We are ready to fight,” said Maraga.
“We have shown the people of Moletji since winning the ward that we care.
“We have delivered clean water to the people of Moletji – something the ANC has failed to do all these years.
“We fixed the toilets after our people were bushwhacked under the ANC-led government and we were exposed to the public.
“Our only message to the voters is that we should all go to the polls on Wednesday to finish what we have started.
“And my message to the ANC and ActionSA is that we are going after them now and will be more next year.
“We want to tell you that the EFF will rule Limpopo, come elections next year,” Maraga said.
The ANC, the largest party in the council
Polokwane is the capital of Limpopo and the economic center of the province.
The city alone has more than one million people, the majority of whom work in retail shops, factories, municipalities, government departments and mining houses in and around the city.
The municipal council consists of 90 council members. The ANC is the largest political party in the council with a total of 56 councillors.
The EFF and the Democratic Alliance came in second and third with 21 and seven councilors respectively.
Thipa Selala, spokesperson for the Polokwane municipality, said the council works every day to deliver services to all communities in the Polokwane jurisdiction.
