ANC celebrates AU expulsion of apartheid Israel, EFF demands further action

Israeli diplomat, Sharon Bar-li, was expelled from the African Union (AU) Summit in Ethiopia. The African National Congress (ANC) and the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) welcomed the move.

Israel’s foreign ministry’s deputy director general for Africa, Sharon Bar-li, was escorted out of the AU Assembly on Saturday.

Israel kicked out of AU summit

Israel accused Iran of organizing the movement, with the help of Algeria and South Africa.

However, President Cyril Ramaphosa’s spokesman, Vincent Magwenya, was at the summit and demanded that Israel “correct its claims.”

In a statement published on Sunday, the ANC – which compared Israel to an “apartheid state” – backed the AU to expel Bar-li.

The party said the removal was aimed at “frustrating efforts to derail the current AU Summit from considering a report that should have guided the discussion on whether Israel should be granted observer status.”

‘Israel Accreditation’

Meanwhile, the EFF released a statement on Sunday welcoming the African Union’s decision to expel the apartheid Israeli government delegation from the AU summit.

The EFF called on the AU to withdraw the “bad accreditation” of Israel’s apartheid government, and called on Moussa Faki Mahamat, the head of the African Union Commission, to be reprimanded for unilaterally accepting Moysa Fa Israel’s accreditation, which has fueled disputes in the region. African society.

In addition, the red beret said that all peace-loving Africans must “not give an audience to this rogue of conscience who has brought shame to Africa”.

The EFF also said it would work hard and sponsor a motion in the Pan-African Parliament to continue its mission “to ask the AU to remove this apartheid apologist”.
