We have an update on the impending divorce between Amy Slaton and Michael Halterman.
And, unfortunately, it is not positive.
According to Kentucky court documents, obtained by The Sun, the 1,000-lb Sisters cast member filed for a protective order on Feb. 28 … four days after calling 911 claiming Michael had been “abusive” at her home.
Well, huh?
The protection order was later amended on March 8 to allow Michael “supervised contact with the children” as long as he is accompanied by his mother and sister.
Five days later, Halterman filed for divorce.
What led to the ban and what allegedly happened between the couple?
According to the 911 dispatch document, Amy claims Michael began “throwing things” during a heated argument on Friday, February 24.
The couple argued about the split; and, according to this same report, was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol when officers arrived at the scene around 2:30 pm.
“Amy wanted to break up, but the boy didn’t,” the cop later noted.
The 1000-lb Sisters star also claimed Michael eventually “got rough” and started “throwing things” with his two-year-old gage and eight-month-old son Glenn in front.
After meeting all the way back to high school, Amy and Michael exchanged vows nearly four years to the day before Michael filed for divorce.
They just finished filming the first half of 1000-lb Sisters Season 4 and both will also appear in upcoming Season 4 episodes.
In the installment of this series that aired in February, viewers were apparently given a glimpse of where things have gone between husband and wife.
This episode features Amy falling apart while her husband sits drinking beer with friends – instead of helping out with their two sons.
“You shouldn’t be doing this alone,” Amanda’s sister said to Amy as she offered help in time.
“You are married and have a husband, and he must be a father too.”
Indeed, an insider previously told The Sun that Michael acting like an unfamiliar father was the main reason why Amy was unhappy with their relationship.
Amy now lives with her children at her sister Tammy’s house.
“Amy says Michael is lazy, and has been jealous of his attention to the children,” The Sun reported a few days ago, adding the timeline:
“He’s been in trouble since last year.”
The married couple tied the knot in 2017, and then held an official ceremony in 2019.
“I can’t believe it’s over today,” Slaton said during the 2020 episode. “It’s about me starting a new life with my husband.”
Neither Amy nor Michael has spoken out about the break-up or about this alleged argument.
Amy has been “feeling overwhelmed” lately, The Sun reports, while another source told this Halterman outlet:
“No one in the family likes Michael.”
