Amazon Asks Employees To Be In Office At Least Three Days A Week | General News

Amazon.com Inc ( AMZN.O ) will require employees to be in the office at least three days a week starting May 1, the e-commerce giant said on Friday.

The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the workplace, with companies sending employees home to work remotely. Even though the lockdown has been eradicated around the world, many employees remain remote or in hybrid environments.

In a message posted on Amazon’s blog, chief executive Andy Jassy wrote that the decision was taken at a meeting earlier this week and that the move would make learning and collaboration easier.

“This shift will provide a boost to the thousands of businesses located around our downtown headquarters locations in Puget Sound, Virginia, Nashville, and the dozens of cities around the world where our employees go to work,” Jassy wrote.

The company added that there are some exceptions to the rule – customer support roles and sales force will have the option to work remotely.

Amazon has said in October 2021 it will allow individual teams to decide how many days the company’s employees will work from the office in a week.
