Alyssa Valdez awaits doctor clearance as she hopes to rejoin Creamline

MANILA, Philippines – Alyssa Valdez’s availability for Creamline in the 2023 Premier Volleyball League Conference Finals still depends on the doctor, but she wants to rejoin the team “as soon as possible.”

Valdez, who is still recovering from a right knee injury, hopes to be the Cool Smashers as they play for the fifth time in the All-Filipino Finals and see the gold ball in the conference.

But he needs a doctor’s permission.

“I am also praying for a speedy recovery. [I’m grateful to the] the support system from my team, from our management outside, as well as rehab. I’m really praying that I can help them in a different way,” Valdez said during Creamline’s 25-22, 25-23, 25-16 win over F2 Logistics in Game 2 of the semifinals on Tuesday at the Mall. from Asia Arena.

“I hope it will be soon. For now, that’s all I have to say. We have to wait for permission from the doctor,” he added.

But the three-time PVL MVP said he will do everything for his team, regardless of whether they play in the Finals or not.

“I will always fight for the team, be it on the field or the bench. I’m really, really willing to do anything to help the team. I’m always excited to watch that game. I hope to be able to play soon,” he said.

Coach Sherwin Meneses said he wasn’t going to force Valdez to play.

“We will not force her but if the doctor will say that she is allowed to play, we will allow her. But until now there is still danger,” Meneses said in Filipino. “I hope Alyssa can play. I can’t say directly because it’s just his doctor was able to say that he is fit to play. But now, he is healthy and his injuries have healed. He is doing good training in the gym.

Valdez couldn’t be more proud of the Cool Smashers, who reached the Finals even without him, as Tots wing spikers Carlos, Jema Galanza, and Michele Gumabao rose to the challenge.

“I am very proud of him. Because for the past month, I have been on the sidelines watching people train and prepare for the game. I can see how hard he works, he works smart in practice,” he said.

Even when he’s not playing, the Creamline star has been talking to his teammates as he watches every game.

“It’s really just a small reminder, all the small things. Having played with them, I know what they do on the court, and how they think. Outside the court, I hope I can help them in a small way,” he said Valdez. “I really need time to talk to everyone, I hope Tots, MG.
