Oliver Almadro may not know it, but when the Premier Volleyball League opened its latest season with the All-Filipino Conference last week, it commanded as much attention as the title contenders.
And only in the second game handling the newest team, Petro Gazz, the focus will be again on Almadro and how to handle his former team when the Angels clash with the popular Choco Mucho Flying Titans at the Filoil EcoOil Center in San Juan City.
Almadro left Choco Mucho in the middle of the Reinforced Conference last year, saying he wanted to put all his attention on the Ateneo women’s team girding for the UAAP season that is just around the corner.

He suddenly found his way to Petro Gazz and showed agitation in several interviews when he was pressed for answers.
Almadro swears that he and his former team are on good terms, even saying that he often gets visits from one of Ateneo-Choco Mucho’s wards in Maddie Madayag.
“By [Choco Mucho] management? Of course,” said Almadro. “Sometimes Maddie visits me, and I have a big heart for Maddie. You know, I’m happy now.”
The time of the game is 6:30 pm with the Flying Titans taking to win the second straight under the new coach Dante Alinsunurin, while the Angels took the first victory to put the bitterness of losing directly to Creamline in the opener behind.
“He was always amazing,” Almadro said of his former team. “They are a very strong team. That’s it. They are a very talented team. So we will work hard, we will prepare and may God give us strength and wisdom for the next game.
