Ira Alido waited until the final round to become the first player to truly conquer the Marapara layout, missing seven birdies while shooting a six-under-par 64 to complete his comeback and win the ICTSI Negros Occidental Classic by a shot against Antonio Lascuña and Rupert Zaragosa.

More than just his second win as a pro, Alido gained the confidence he needed for his overseas campaign as a rally from five shots earlier in the day gave him a 279 tally that beat some of the biggest names in the country. .

That includes Lascuña, a veteran regular who came into the final round in a four-way tie for the lead but had a costly bogey on No. .

“I’ve been working hard for the past year and I’ve never shown good results,” said Alido, who hit a 15-foot putt for birdie on the 72nd hole for the stroke-winner. “But now, it’s helping me prepare for another event abroad.”

Lascuña had a chance to make the playoff but missed a 25-footer for birdie at No. Gialon.
