shit. This does not look good Alex Murdaugh.
As we have already seen, a former South Carolina lawyer has been tried for the alleged murder of his wife, Maggie52, and a son, Paul, 22, on June 7, 2021, at his family’s property. Alex has insisted that he did not commit the murder, even claiming that he was not at home when his family member was killed. And while this latest insight doesn’t prove whether or not he’s wrong, it certainly will put doubt in the minds of the jury!
In court on Friday, it was revealed that Alex got off the phone and searched a popular restaurant just 30 minutes after finding his wife and son shot dead! WTF?!

According to mobile phone data, the disgraced legal heirs “wanted”Whaley’s Edisto‘ in the Safari browser “on the iPhone at 10:40 pm when he was standing next to his murdered brother and only 15 minutes after the first police arrived on the scene. The officer testified that Alex looked “tired” but did not shed “visible tears” , according to Page Six. Apparently, he was more focused on getting a bite to eat…
Surprisingly, the restaurant located near the Murdaugh family’s main house also has a menu called, “Maggie’s Favorite Burger.” It is not clear if this food is named after Maggie Murdaugh or if it is related to the family. That said, the Murdaughs have been popular in the area for decades, so it’s possible. Either way, what a crazy thing to google after finding two beloved family members murdered!
At 10:38 a.m., Alex also “read” a message he received earlier in the evening from someone named Michael Gunawan. Michael posted a photo of a woman in a bikini on a boat, writing to Murdaugh and two other friends in a group chat:
“She brings the heat to the Miami boys”
Again, not the kind of message we thought anyone would spend time looking at in the midst of a tragic discovery…
Defense attorney Philip Barber clapped back at the data, claiming it was the only evidence that his client was shocked after finding the body. He also suggested that Alex could “hold his finger” on his cell phone and accidentally look for a food establishment. Hmm…
The evidence was revealed when the prosecution presented a detailed timeline of all the data collected at Alex’s place that evening – including mobile and car data – to prove that he was the one who killed Maggie and Paul.
Special agents Peter Rudofskyof South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED), walk the jury at a crucial moment in the timeline. It started with a video taken on Paul’s phone at 8:45 pm when he was in the dog kennels on the property. Several witnesses have testified that they heard the voices of Paul, Maggie, and Alex in the video – which is huge given that it happened minutes before the fatal shot. Four minutes later, both victims’ phones were “locked forever.”
Prosecutors claim the couple were shot dead shortly after 8:49 pm The disbarred chief had said after having dinner with the family, he left the property to visit his mother. When he returned at 10:07 a.m., he claimed he immediately called 911 when he found his wife and son murdered. His eldest son, Bustertime away from his girlfriend.
But here the prosecutors think there is no problem. prosecutor Creighton Waters pointed out that Alex’s phone has shown no activity for hours – until he drove away from the property. In addition, he walks more than 70 steps per minute, which is unusual behavior for him. That said, where he walks is not arrested. Instead, Waters asked Rudofski:
“He’s a busy man, isn’t he?”
He replied:
“It appears.”
Additionally, the timeline puts Murdaugh at home until 9:07 p.m.—more than 15 minutes after investigators believe his wife and son were killed. And when he got in his car and drove off, he raced down the country road at over 74 mph (well over the 55 mph speed limit). What’s the rush? According to the prosecutor, when he got to his mother’s house, he parked near the woods away from the main house. Authorities believe they may have stored important evidence there after the murder. After going home to visit his sick mother, he would most often call and send messages. Then he hurried home.

In the middle of the fast-paced drive, the timeline also marks a few inner sense details about Maggie’s phone. According to investigators, the backlight on Maggie’s phone was turned off at the same time Alex’s SUV was driving in the same spot on the two-lane highway. This is also where her phone was found the next day, not far from the family home. Hmm. Are they suggesting Alex has anything to do with where they are?
This brings us to the infamous 911 call. About 20 seconds after the SUV stopped at the kennels, Alex unsuccessfully tried to call 911 (he accidentally had a 1 added to the number). He tried again and succeeded in reaching the operator about 20 seconds later. That said, is 20 seconds enough time for him to park his car and find out what happened to his family members?? Depends on who you ask…
On cross-examination, Barber’s defense attorney said the data did not shed light on the night’s events. For starters, they noted that the step information did not include the distance walked or compared to data from the previous day, which would have more effectively proved that Alex was walking abnormally. He also said that 20 seconds might have been enough time for Alex to discover the murder and call 911, insisting that the car’s headlights could have illuminated the incident before he parked.
There’s a lot more information where this came from, including details about Alex’s alleged drug addiction. Check out some trial highlights (below):
Alex faces 30 years to life in prison if convicted. He also faces other financial crimes. Mind? Do you think Alex is looking for a restaurant after discovering a murder?! Let us know (below).
