They will try! Alan Jackson It was revealed that he has plans to release more music amid his active battle with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease.
“Yes, it is. I hope so. I mean, I may not have traveled much, but, as I said, the creative part increases every time,” said Jackson, 64, on the Tuesday, February 21, episode of the “In Joy Life” podcast, hosted by his daughter Mattie Jackson. “I’m always writing ideas and thinking about melodies and I think there will be more music, yes.”
The country crooner shared how he prefers songwriting to touring, which is “like you’re doing the same thing.” Making an album, however, Alan’s creative scratch itched.

The “Livin on Love” singer has struggled to make music since being diagnosed with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease. Alan has been battling the condition – a hereditary disorder that affects the nervous system, causing a progressive loss of muscle tissue and loss of sensation in the arms and legs – for more than a decade but did not announce the news until September 2021.
“I have neuropathy and this neurological disease,” the native of Georgia shared during a Today show the interview at the time. “That was inherited from my father. … There is no cure for it, but it has affected me for years. And this is becoming increasingly clear.
While CMT doesn’t shorten life expectancy, it can make the move very difficult — especially for people who are used to performing on stage every night.
“I’m reluctant to talk about it in public and with my fans,” the “Chattahoochee” singer said of her battle with the disorder, which has also affected her grandmother and sister. “It’s called CMT, which is quite ironic, because CMT is a big part of my career.”
After announcing his diagnosis, the “Little Bitty” crooner announced that he plans to continue his tour, but he doesn’t want to call it a “farewell” outing. “I never wanted to do a big retirement tour, like people do, then take a year off and then come back,” he said. “Our whole family is excited for our new grandpa, our first grandpa. … My first child in the family,” Alan gushed about the baby on Tuesday’s podcast. “I have four sisters and three daughters, so this is a new experience.”
