Akufo-Addo To Attend Funeral Of Cardinal Baawobr | Social

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo is scheduled to attend the funeral service of His Eminence Richard Cardinal Kuuia Baawobr, M.AFR, which began on Wednesday, January 11.

The body was taken from the Upper West Hospital mortuary on Wednesday at 2 pm, to Taman Malik Jabri in Wa, after morning prayers.

The itinerary, available to the Ghana News Agency, shows that the President will address the funeral there before the death of the remains of the Cardinal were interred in St. Andrews Catholic Cathedral.

There was a requiem mass at 1000 hours on Thursday, followed by a tribute from the Symposium of the Episcopal Conference of Africa and Madagascar, the family, and the Missionaries of Africa, the late Cardinal.

Wa Diocese Priests Association, Ghana Catholic Bishops Conference, and Fr. Henryk Mieczyslaw Jagodznski, Apostolic Nuncio of Ghana, will all pay tribute.

The mourners at the funeral will also be allowed to invoke the past to pay their last respects.

His Eminence Richard Cardinal Kuuia Baawobr, M.AFR was the Bishop of Wa before he was nominated by Pope Francis as a Cardinal among the 21 Catholic Priests on May 29, 2022.

He was elected President of the Symposium of the Episcopal Conference of Africa and Madagascar (SECAM) on July 30, on the eve of the Eucharistic celebration to mark the conclusion of the 19th SECAM Plenary Assembly in Accra.

He was born on June 21, 1959 and had been a priest since 1987 before he died in glory on Sunday, November 27, 2022, in Rome.
