Akrofuom D/A JHS was crowned as the winner of the inter-school quiz competition
Akrofuom D/A JHS won the regency inter-school quiz competition held at St Luke’s Catholic Church, Akrofuom.
The quiz competition is an activity to celebrate the 5th anniversary of the establishment of Akrofuom District.
Akrofuom D/A JHS scored 45 points to be crowned champions after seeing off stiff competition from Akrofuom R/C JHS, Akrofuom Methodist JHS and Okyerekrom D/A JHS who had 42 points, 41 points and 19 points respectively.
The participants were given participation certificates and gifts such as school bags.
This district was established by Legislative Instrument 2329 of 2017, and was inaugurated on March 15, 2018 along with 37 others. The District Assembly, however, organized various activities to commemorate its 5th anniversary.
The activities held in the celebration include: quiz competition, football competition, clean-up sports, dinner and award night. On Wednesday, March 15, there will be a grand durbar event to climax the 5-year anniversary.

After the inter-school quiz, the Chief Executive of the District, Maurice Jonas Woode, and officials from the Assembly joined the Muslims of the District to perform Friday prayers (jum?ah).
The priest and elders thanked the District Head for coming as part of the commemoration celebration. He offered his prayers for the Chief Executives of the Districts and districts in all, and gave his unwavering support to their activities.
They requested that an Islamic school be built in the community.
DCE Woode assured that the Assembly will look into his request and respond positively.
In the interview, the DCE gave insight into the establishment and development of Akrofuom District.
He noted that this district was established on March 15, 2018, due to long-standing suggestions due to the lack of development in the community.
Since it was carved out of Adasi Kidul District, it has witnessed significant growth and development in all sectors of the economy.
In the education sector, Dr. Woode highlighted the construction of 12 school blocks, with 10 already handed over and two still underway.
In addition, he said the district has a Director of Education who works to improve the standard of education in the district. The district has also set aside a package for brilliant students from poor families to help them continue their education. Furthermore, members of the DPR have also provided packages for students who excel in BECE results, including suitcases, mattresses, chop boxes, and other items.
In the Health sector, it said 4 CHPS compounds have been built and handed over, with more under construction through collaboration with the Japanese embassy in Ghana. He again said that hospitals that needed improvement had been repaired to improve standards. The district also deployed additional nurses and health officers to improve access to health.
“Before the establishment of the district, only ten out of more than 80 communities had access to electricity. However, since its establishment, more than forty (40) communities now have access to electricity.
MCE Woode stated that the establishment of Akrofuom District has brought significant improvements in the district.
He also revealed future development plans and called on all residents to work together to ensure the continued development and welfare of the district.
