As South Africa and the world mourn the death of award-winning rapper Kiernan Forbes, also known as AKA, CCTV footage has emerged of the star’s murder.

AKA and his friend Tebello ‘Tibz’ Motsoane were shot dead after being punched while standing outside Wish Restaurant on Friday night.

CCTV footage has been widely shared showing the shooting on Florida Road that claimed the lives of AKA and Tibz.

The grainy footage shows AKA hugging and shaking hands with friends before glancing over his shoulder down the street.

The killers of AKA and Tibz remain at large

The manhunt for the suspects who shot and killed rapper Kiernan Jarryd Forbes (AKA) and his friend Tebello ‘Tibz’ Motsoane continued on Sunday.

It is still unclear when the suspects will be arrested.

Police in KwaZulu Natal (KZN) could not say much about the case when asked if they were confident an arrest would be made.

“There is no update yet,” KZN police spokesman Colonel Robert Netshiunda said The Warga in the written answer.

Weather to blame for power outages

In another news update, the Johannesburg power utility, the City Power technical team worked well on Friday night trying to restore power to some areas hit by the trifactor compounding crisis of the country’s electricity supply: cable theft, vandalism and flooding.

On Sunday morning, City Power said it received more than 3 600 reports of power outages across Johannesburg.

Out of 3600, more than 1500 power failure reports out of Roodepoort with about 750 incoming calls overnight.

Isaac Mangena City Power said about eight teams of technicians have been sent to Roodepoort for many outages but the work was delayed by the weather and open shedding.

More rainy weather on the way

The wet weather conditions that covered various parts of the country in the past few days are expected to continue into the new week.

The continuous heavy rains experienced over the past few days are the result of a low pressure system that made landfall last week.

The weather system in question, became quasi-stationary between Thursday and Saturday and heavy rains were experienced on consecutive days.

The home of the KZN Premier invaded

In news updates from the coast, a group of protesters stormed the private residence of KwaZulu-Natal Premier Nomusa Dube-Ncube on Saturday night.

It is understood that there was an illegal gathering outside the house while the family, including children were inside.

According to KZN Transport, Community Safety and Liaison, an apparently well organized group attacked private homes and insulted and intimidated families.

The incident caused trauma and fear to the family members especially the children.

Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Dr Naledi Pandor, hosted the 8th Annual Ubuntu Awards at the Cape Town International Convention Center (CTICC) on Saturday night.
