Again, INEC extends timeline for collection of PVC

At Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has again exceeded the deadline for collection Permanent Voter Card (PVC) in increments of one week.

The PVC collection which was earlier scheduled to end on January 29 will now continue until February 5, said a statement by INEC’s National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Electoral Education Committee, Festus Okoye.

The Chairman of INEC, Mahmood Yakubu, on Friday said a meeting with the Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) will discuss the collection of Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) in the 774 Local Government Offices nationwide.

“Based on reports from various States and discussions with the Resident Electoral Commissioner, the Commission has decided to extend the collection of PVC in all Local Government Offices in the country with an additional one week,” Mr. Okoye said.

“Collection times have been extended by an additional two hours and will start at 9am and end at 5pm every day including Saturday and Sunday.”

Double registration

The Commission, however, said it does not print PVCs of voters who participate in double registration.

“The commission will continue to act on all reported cases of blatant practices in the ongoing collection of PVCs and will ensure that no Nigerian is harmed and that all those who are legally registered have the opportunity to collect PVCs,” he said.

“The commission once again appreciates the patience and perseverance of the residents.”
