The Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, has intensified his drive to increase partnerships with local and multinational companies for direct investment in the state’s economy.
A statement by the Spokesman to the Governor, Malam Olawale Rasheed, stated that two days of work in Lagos State, Adeleke has presented the government’s vision for public-private partnership with the aim of overcoming the huge infrastructure deficit. and jump-start the debt-ridden Osun State economy.
“In several meetings with captains of industry and leaders of multilateral institutions and organizations, the governor specifically called for investment in roads, agriculture, education, health, sports and information technology.
“From Monday to Wednesday, the governor met with more than 14 chief executives from various organizations, securing a commitment from them to work on an investment package for Osun State.
“At the launch of Dangote Holdings subsidiary in Lagos, the governor extended an interactive session with top federal ministers, critical heads of federal agencies and managing directors of leading private companies in the sector,” the statement said.
Adeleke, while talking about his experience so far, stressed his determination to start the country’s economy despite the lack of funds, explaining the strategy as “PPP rules mixed with personal networks with local and international business leaders.”
“Our government is very innovative. Our five-point agenda is being implemented through PPP partnership. So, I have drawn up a state plan for most of the industry leaders I met and they are very keen to support Osun State.
“I have met some important business and government leaders on this trip to Lagos. It has been a lot of back-to-back meetings. And the good thing is that we are recording success. I will update our people as soon as possible on the positive results we have achieved.
“I am going to visit Abuja to continue consultations and follow-up. I will use the opportunity to visit the ambassadors of the G-20 countries and United Nations (UN) agencies in Nigeria. Our government is very innovative in meeting the wishes of our people,” the governor said.
