ADC adopts Peter Obi as its presidential candidate

The Action Democratic Congress (ADC) faction in Abuja adopted Peter Obi, Labor Party (LP) presidential candidate is a candidate for the February 25 election.

The Chairman, ADC Board of Trustees (BoT), Mani Ibrahim, told a press conference that Mr. Obi is the best person to be the next president.

“Today, we come together as a family and as a formidable third force: our great patrons and members of the BoT, the National Executive Council, and the National Working Committee.

“The Diaspora Network and our National Youth Council are also in solidarity, advancing for a viable presidential candidate that the whole nation wants.

“After due diligence and critical assessment of the 17 presidential candidates and what they have to offer and after consultation with our great patron, former President Olusegun Obasanjo, we decided that Obi-Datti’s movement is a worthy cause to endorse.

“Today, we form this star alliance for one purpose only: to ensure a strong victory,” said Mr. Ibrahim.

He added that ADC is not alone in its solidarity, saying that its star alliance partners, Nigerian Mothers for Good Governance, Fulani United, Artisan Nigeria and the League of Imams are with ADC.

He also said that Nigerian Traders, Yoruba United, Mega Political Coalition, Kanuris United, Nigerian Professional Group, DG Global Groups, Joint Coalition Group and Nigeria Legions United are also with ADC.

Mr. Ibrahim assured that the ADC leadership will do everything in its power and position to urge members and supporters to elect Peter Obi and Datti Baba-Ahmed as their running mate.

“Our request is that for this collaboration to be more effective, ADC candidates for governor, senator, House of Representatives and House of Assembly positions should receive mutual support.

“This is mainly where he is more dominant than the candidate of the Labor Party; this will enable both parties to have a good number of legislators to support the president Obi-Datti.

“When we stand up, we know quite a few candidates have endorsed the Obi-Datti Movement,” the ADC BoT chairman said.

He added that the position, advocacy and projection of the party is based on the government of national unity, leadership of colleges and translations that will benefit from the alliance.

“As we look forward to the victorious election on Saturday, February 25, we encourage every Nigerian to come out in large numbers to elect Obi-Datti as president and vice president,” he said.
