Adamu to hold emergency meeting with APC governors Sunday

Amid internal wrangling in the All Progressives Congress (APC), the National Chairman of the party, Abdulahi Adamu has called for an emergency meeting with the party governor.

APC spokesperson, Felix Morka, made the announcement on Friday.

According to the report, Mr. Adamu will hold an emergency meeting with the governors on Sunday at 2pm at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.

The meeting of party leaders and governors will come less than a week before the presidential and National Assembly elections.

The shoddy implementation of the naira redesign has left some governors reeling President Muhammadu Buhari.

Some governors have openly challenged the president’s directive that the N200 should continue to be legal tender until April 10, but the N1,000 and N500 have ceased to be legal tender.

Mr. Buhari’s directive has been described by legal experts as ignoring the Supreme Court ruling.

Mr. El-Rufai had gone live on Thursday night, confronting Mr. Buhari’s previous directive.

During the broadcast, the Kaduna governor described the naira redesign policy as a weapon by members of the ruling party and close allies of the president to stop the APC presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, from winning the February 25 election.

Meanwhile, in several countries, violent protests have erupted as angry mobs attacked banks and other financial institutions over the naira shortage.
