Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) ripped Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) for what he described as “cowardly actions” in the wake of a Manhattan grand jury indictment of former President Donald Trump.
Democrats told MSNBC’s Jen Psaki, President Joe Biden’s former White House press secretary, that DeSantis’ oath shows he will say anything and do anything in hopes of boosting his 2024 campaign hopes.
“It also says something about the state of the GOP and you have to attack the justice system, you have to speculate about motives, you have to assume the worst and – in that statement, too – you have to ignore the law,” said Schiff.
Schiff, a Harvard Law School graduate like DeSantis, added that Florida’s governor “definitely knows more about the law.”
“He knows what his obligations are to extradite people accused of crimes in other countries. He’s not an idiot and he knows that very well,” Schiff said.
“I remember something Adam Kinzinger, a colleague on January 6th Committee said when he spoke, it is not he and Liz Cheney who are very brave, they are just surrounded by cowards. And it was a cowardly act by Ron DeSantis to try to compete with Donald Trump on Trump’s own turf.
