Super lightweight Adam Azim is targeting more titles next year as he prepares to fight South American Santos Reyes at Wembley Arena on February 11.

“The pressure doesn’t get to me because I’ve been training really hard. I’m very focused and very determined to put on a good performance,” said Azim. “I’m ready.

“I don’t expect the knockout to come. We don’t predict what round, if it comes, it will come,” he said. “I’m heavy on both hands.

“I also have speed. If I put together a combination, I can make a devastating performance.”

The contest is scheduled for 10 rounds and Azim thinks Reyes has the potential to be a tough opponent.

“He’s 12-0 so it’s no joke, he’s a very durable fighter. He’s a good fighter and he’s going to be a good player,” Azim said.

“I’m ready for any round. I’ve had a lot of rounds in the gym, I’m sparring three different guys and I’m not tired, I’m ready for a round.”

But he added: “I never predicted it, but that shot would come.”

“A lot of people haven’t seen the best of me.”

The main supporting fight on Saturday will be an exciting match between American Anthony Sims and Zak Chelli from London.

In this unexpected match Chelli promises to bring Sims down. “I will catch him [with] one good and I will put him down,” he said to the American. “I fight tough enemies, you fight nobodies.

“He’s a good dancer, he likes to walk, he has a good jab,” Chelli said. “I haven’t seen any aggression and that’s what I’ll bring on Saturday.

“You’re so delusional, you’ll wake up on Saturday night after a loss and realize it.”

Sims replied: “The boxing I know is beyond you. On Saturday you will know.

“You will be the next victim.”

Another contest that fits the bill is Tyler Denny’s middleweight title defense against Brad Pauls.

The respect between the two was clear at Wednesday’s press conference. “Tyler is defined at this level,” the challenger said. “It’s my time to step up, take the shot and show what I’m all about.

“We can both dig deep if we have to.

“I just thought the style would be good for a good fight.”

A win should lead the winner to take the British title. “There’s a lot to gain from this fight. My opponent is the toughest, but we’ll see what he’s made of,” Pauls said.

“I just think I’m better,” Denny said. “He obviously thinks he’s better than me. We’ll find out on Saturday.

“I think it’s going to be the fight of the night. We’re both here to win, we’re both hungry fighters.

“He’s an exciting fighter, my last three fights have been exciting fights. It’s got fireworks written all over it.”

In contrast, the hostility between Viddal Riley and his opponent Anees Taj was immediately apparent.

“I don’t think he’s the toughest opponent,” Riley said, a comment Taj responded to in unison.

“I know you came to win,” Riley continued. “It was scheduled for eight, this is the first eight rounds.

“But I don’t think I’ll do eight on Saturday.”

“Of course you won’t,” Taj interrupted again, “because you’ll stop at six.

“I know I’m in your head.”

Riley gave no sign of doubt. “My prediction,” he insisted, “is that you don’t see round four.”

Watch from 8pm Sky Sports Main Event or Sky Sports Arena Saturday, February 11.
