Academic City has the 5th matriculation; Promise to nurture problem solvers
Academic City University College has marked its annual matriculation ceremony with a promise to nurture a new generation of problem solvers who will use innovation to advance Africa’s development.
At the ceremony, the university emphasized its commitment to nurturing students who will be equipped with the skills and mindset needed to overcome real challenges and make positive changes in the community.
Academic City’s matriculation ceremony welcomed a total of 195 students who are citizens of 14 different countries who have registered for the 2023 academic year to pursue a uniquely designed STEAM-based academic discipline.
Prof. Fred McBagonluri, President and Provost of Academic City, stated while welcoming new incoming students that the university is on the right path to change the narrative of higher education in Ghana by providing quality education that prepares students for the demand. modern workplace.

“One of the ways to accomplish this is by emphasizing experiential learning. In contrast to traditional universities, where students are often passive recipients of information, we seek to create active experiential learning and work. With hands-on projects and original experiences, we encourage students to learn by doing. This strategy prepares students for the challenges of the contemporary workplace, where problem solving and creativity are essential skills,” he said.
“We also recognize the importance of technology in this rapidly changing world. Students must have the skills and knowledge needed to work with technology. We have integrated technology into the core of our curriculum. Students have the opportunity to learn about the latest technology and its applications, from coding to artificial intelligence. This ensures that Academic City graduates are ready to face the challenges of the modern workplace,” Prof. McBagonluri emphasized further.
Andrew Kumi, an engineering student, spoke on behalf of the matriculants to express his excitement about starting his academic journey at Academic City.

“As students, it is our responsibility to make the most of our time at this prestigious university; accordingly, we must maintain our focus and avoid anything that will stop us from achieving our dreams and goals. After taking the oath, I hope to live up to the oath and make the best decisions so that, at the end of my four years at this university, we will be the most successful graduating class,” he said.
Academic City is poised to make a significant contribution to the education sector in Ghana and beyond with its dedication to excellence and focus on developing innovative leaders.
