
The association in a statement said that the publication in the media and the Abossey Okai Spare Parts Dealers Association and some Union leaders have petitioned the former President, John Mahama asking him to contest for the Presidency in the 2024 general election is false.
The statement made it clear that those who joined the group to meet the former President were not Executives or even members of the Abossey Okai Spare Parts Dealers Association.
It said “It was some people from Abossey Okai who decided to join the group to meet the former President. And, we were surprised that they paraded themselves as Abossey Okai Spare parts Dealers Association.”
The association stated that the spare parts traders are a non-political association and will not carry out such actions and added that its office is open to every political party and therefore in every election year, all political parties come to our office and have deliberations with us.
The association further reiterates that it does not want to get involved in politics and will continue to engage with every party in government to come up with policies that will have a positive impact on our business as usual.
On Tuesday, February 21, 2023, about four unions namely – Motorcyclists Union, True Drivers Union, Concerned Drivers Union and Abossey Okai Spare Parts Dealers Association assured Mahama of their continued support as they petitioned for him to contest as President. in the 2024 election.
He said John Mahama as President would be the best leader to tackle the country’s current economic challenges.
Motorcyclists Association Public Relations Officer, Setsofia Quashie who presented the petition said Ghanaians want a change in government that will transform the economy.
