Abia PDP Zones vacant guber seat to Isiala Ngwa North LGA | The Guardian Nigeria News

After the death of Abia PDP gubernatorial candidate Prof. Eleazar Uche Ikonne on January 25, 2022, and the subsequent directive of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to hold a fresh primary election within 14 days to replace him, a member of the Abia PDP. The State Caucus met today and the gubernatorial seat zone is vacant for Isiala Ngwa Regional Government North, LGA home to the late Prof. Uche Ikonne.

The decision was taken after a meeting of the Abia PDP State Caucus whose membership was drawn from across the State including Abia North, Ikwuano/Umuahia, Ukwa East and Ukwa West Local Government. This was announced by Elder Abraham Amah, Abia PDP Vice Chairman/Acting State Publicity Secretary.

Among those present at the meeting were the State Governor, His Excellency, Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, former governor of Abia State Senator Theodore A. Orji, Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Engr. Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji and two other PDP senatorial candidates, Senator Mao Ohuabunwa and Colonel Austin Akobundu.

Also present at the meeting were Statutory members of the Abia PDP State Caucus apart from the sender who apologized for their absence.

The Party calls on members to support the decision of the Party caucus and strive for a successful primary election on February 4, 2023.

The party also called on members to remain alert and expect more information and briefings from the Abia PDP Publicity Department in due course.
