Ladbrokes have a market on whether the Duke of Sussex will attend his father’s coronation. This market is a bad reflection on King Charles III that he created such a disrespectful environment that his youngest son may not attend the coronation.
For fair and balanced observers like me, the cause of this situation is the King’s hypocrisy. In the 1990s, King Charles III did what the current Duke of Sussex is accused of doing. The Prince of Wales then collaborated with Jonathan Dimbleby with a book and television interview in which our current king aired his dirty laundry and admitted that he had betrayed his family and ruined his parents, which the myopic monarchy could forget.
I want more than 6/5 to resign No and I can return better if I want to resign Yes but PBers can see things differently, because I suspect that the Duke of Sussex not attending will cause reverberations as a solution will be found. The duke and his faithful wife attended.
A report this morning in the Telegraph says multiculturalism, refugees and the NHS will be at the heart of a different coronation. It would not be surprising if the King also took a knee at the coronation as a sop for his estranged son and daughter-in-law.
If the King can have a bad relationship with his son, it will be bad for his relationship with the country after a few years as King.
