The Tory split gave Starmer’s party a boost

Above is the latest betting chart from the Smarkets exchange on the general election results. As you can see, the majority of LABs are back and it is almost 60%.

It’s hard to argue based on the current numbers that the next election won’t see the LAB return to power in some form. Even if it fails to get the 123 seats needed for a general majority, the chances of a CON loss will be big enough for Starmer to move to Number 10.

Maybe it was my personal experience in GE1992 that made me cautious. I am a candidate and also remember the sea change in the public mood on the Tuesday evening before the Election.

The Tories are sure to portray Starmer in the most negative light and perhaps gain traction.
